Delegates from across Africa and beyond congregate in CyberCity for Cyber4Dev’s first face to face conference since COVID19.

Sharing insights, developing support networks and building connections were key themes of the conference, which saw the Republic of Mauritius being designated as a regional cyber resilience hub.

The event was opened by Hon. Alan Ganoo, Minister of Land Transport and Light Rail, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, followed by Hon. Deepak Balgobin, Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation.

Representing the EU, Ambassador Vincert Degert commented –

‘With this hub designation the EU has tasked Mauritius in leading the way and providing guidance and inspiration to its regional and international partners, not only on technical cybersecurity issues, but also in upholding and promoting our core democratic values of rule of law and respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. Promotion of an open, stable, secure and resilient cyberspace for citizens is our collective objective and one to which I am sure that Mauritius can and will make a valuable contribution.’

Cyber4Dev’s Hannes Krause introduces the panel of Ambassador Vincent Degert, Hon. Alan Ganoo, Hon. Deepak Balgobin and Rwandan Minister of Minister of Information and Communications Technology and Innovation, Paula Ingebire.
