This week, in Tallinn, we have been sharing our insights on the development of the cyber ecosystem with our colleague Priyankara Perera, from Sri Lanka CERT -CC.
During this immersive and wide-ranging visit, our Cyber4Dev experts and partners in Tallinn have explored the principles and techniques that have helped to forge Estonia’s reputation as the world’s leading digital society.
Visiting TALTECH, our guest was able to see first-hand how education can help create a strong ‘team working’ mindset, through a visit to the University’s EduCERT, which is a CERT within the University, while also gaining an understanding of how Governments and learning institutions can work together to build human capital and further enhance the various disciplines within the Cyber Sciences.

Following on from the education and theoretical applications, an essential part of testing cyber resilience is through scenario-based exercises. These exercises are commonplace and a core part of the cyber professional’s toolkit, and it’s exciting to now be able to use immersive technologies which provide real life CIIP scenarios and simulation; so when the opportunity arose to visit the NATO and Government of Republic of Estonia backed CR14, with its leading edge maritime and energy simulation systems, we knew this had to be part of the itinerary.

How do you bring together the legislative, political, educational, theoretical and technical aspects of cyber into a cohesive narrative about the benefits of a digital society? Sometimes this may seem a difficult concept to grasp, so a visit to the e-ESTONIA Briefing Centre can help to crystalise thinking on how all of these components work together. Here, our visitor was able to experience how communicating and demonstrating strong cyber governance and its deployment throughout society can shape better resilience outcomes.
