Joint launch of Cyber4Dev and National Information and Cyber Security Strategy in Sri Lanka

The government of Sri Lanka announced the launch of Cyber4Dev on Tuesday 20th March at an event in Colombo. The programme will provide strong and focused support to the implementation of the previously announced National Information and Cyber Security Strategy. In his keynote address, Digital Infrastructure and Information Technology Minister Ajith P. Perera declared that the Sri Lanka government is ready for the enactment and formulation of legislation, policies, and standards to create a regulatory environment to protect individuals and organizations in cyber space. The Data Protection Bill and Cyber security Bill will be presented to parliament for enactment within three months. Cyber4Dev will support and facilitate implementation of the new Strategy and legislation through a programme of technical assistance and capacity building activities.
