Reflecting on an insightful Cyber Forum

/

The Cyber4Dev team have been pleased to participate over the past four days in EU Cyber Direct’s annual Cyber Forum.

The Forum provided global insights into a wide range of Cyber related issues, from the impact of COCID19 through to the Internationalisation of Critical Infrastructure Protection.

As a team, we have collectively garnered many important observations on the increasing importance of Cyber Resilience at every level of society. Here are some of the many take aways from the event

  1. The EU places Cyber at the highest priority as it seeks to promote peace and prosperity.
  2. COVID19 ‘Changed the Game’ for Cyber. With more people WFH, the pressure on CERT teams to provide enhanced protection amidst increasing attacks from bad actors was immense. Nine months on from the initial wave, teams continue to provide agile responses to increasingly complex hacking techniques, preying on people’s heightened sense of insecurity and vulnerability.
  3. Critical Information Infrastructure Protection is a vital component of any Cyber Strategy and should be given the highest importance.
  4. The global and collaborative nature of the Cyber Community has the potential to build a Resilience Cyber Space.
  5. Inclusion for all citizens is a central tenet of a truly digitally enabled world.

Thank you so much to our colleagues at EU Cyber Direct and European Union Institute for Security Studies for organising an outstanding virtual event.
