🌐 The Cyber4Dev team is in Mauritius and today we held a session together with the Mauritius National Cybersecurity Committee, providing advice on the measuring and evaluation of the Mauritius National Cybersecurity Strategy 2022-2024.
Hannes Krause, our country coordinator for Mauritius explained that the country was the first priority country for the project in Africa that which became a Cyber4Dev hub in spring 2022;
“There is a considerable opportunity for Mauritius to lead the way in cybersecurity and play an important role in raising capacities and improving cyber skills in Africa,” Krause said. “This committee has a considerable role to play in achieving that besides implementing the cybersecurity strategy discussed today,” he added.
📈 Our Monitoring and Evaluation Expert, Mr. Enton Dimni presented the M&E Framework and underlined the importance measuring and evaluation in achieving the vision of all strategies.
“Without proper evaluation every strategy will remain just a beautiful piece of paper” he explained.
Dr Viv Padayatchy, chairman of the National Cybersecurity Committee, thanked us for the advice and underlined that after today’s substantial session there is no doubt on the importance of measurement and evaluation for the committee.
“We very much look forward to working with your team in order to refine the indicators helping us to evaluate our strategy,” Padayatchy emphasised.
Mauritius National Cybersecurity Committee is established under the Cybersecurity and Cybercrime Bill and is tasked to advise the government on cybersecurity and cybercrime issues and implement relevant governmental policies. Cyber4Dev team has worked with governmental officials of Mauritius since 2020 on renewing its cybersecurity strategy and today’s meeting was an important milestone on this way.
Today’s meeting follows on from several high-level meetings yesterday, including with Deepak Balgobin, Minister of IT, Communication and Innovation and Hon Alan Ganoo, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Minister of Land Transport and Light Rail.
