Rwanda has made great strides in boosting its cyber resilience in recent years: establishing its National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA) in 2020, and a Data Protection Office just last year. They’ve also been busy hosting international events, like the 2023 FIRST & AfricaCERT Symposium in March and the Cybertech Africa 2023 Conference in August.
Cyber Resilience for Development experts returned to Kigali to deliver cyber security training and workshops with NCSA and other government stakeholders.
The first course covered Critical Information Infrastructure Protection (CIIP), which brought together partners from government ministries, regulators and authorities, to better understand what Rwanda’s Critical Information Infrastructure is, and how partners across government can work with private sector partners to increase resilience of these critical industries and services.
The second course was on Cyber Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) management, which enhanced participants’ knowledge of CSIRTs’ organizational structures, human resources, cyber security tools and operational processes. Cyber professionals from several government organisations completed the two day course.
By enhancing NCSA and other Rwandan cyber professionals capabilities, we are increasing resilience against malicious actors and future cyber attacks.
Thank you to our colleagues at NCSA for hosting us and their commitment to delivering a secure and prosperous cyberspace in Rwanda.
